SENDING US YOUR DOCUMENTS
To legally produce your number plates, we’re required to verify original documents that confirm your identity and your entitlement to the registration. This typically includes a recent utility bill and either a V5C logbook or a V750 certificate. For a complete list of accepted documents, please visit our Valid Documents page.
The simplest documents to provide are original digital PDFs, such as an eV948 Certificate of Authorisation, paired with a recent bank statement or utility bill.
Once you've placed your order, you’ll be directed to a page with clear instructions on how to submit your documents and complete the verification process.
Ensuring Legality and Compliance:
Fully DVLA Compliant: Our 4D number plates are officially recognised by the DVLA as road legal, falling within the legal standards set for 3D and raised character plates — despite their enhanced depth and bold appearance.
Document Verification Required: To comply with UK number plate regulations, we must verify original documentation. If you’re ordering remotely, you’ll need to post your documents to us. Rest assured, they will be returned securely along with your new plates.
Manufacturing and delivery times:
Royal Mail Tracked 48: This is our standard delivery option, included free with all plate orders. Once we receive valid proof of registration ownership, your plates will be dispatched within 24 hours. Royal Mail aims to deliver Tracked 48 parcels within two working days.
Royal Mail Tracked 24: For faster delivery, you can upgrade to Tracked 24 at checkout. Once your registration documents are approved, your plates will be dispatched within 24 hours. Royal Mail aims to deliver Tracked 24 parcels the next working day.
Both delivery services include full tracking. We’ll email you a tracking number so you can follow your plates and documents every step of the way.

All of our number plates can be washed with a pressure washer without any fear of damaging the number plates, and they won’t fade in the sunlight either.

Sticky Pad Kit:
Includes 10 industrial-strength adhesive pads — more than enough to securely mount both front and rear plates. Ideal for a sleek finish with no drilling required.
Screw Fixing Kit:
Includes 4 durable screws, along with 2 white and 2 yellow screw caps to match your number plate background for a neat, blended appearance.

What is your shipping policy?
We currently ship all orders via Royal Mail.
Free Tracked 48 Delivery is included with all number plate orders, offering reliable, trackable shipping at no extra cost.
For fixing kits and accessories, we provide free First Class delivery.
If you prefer a faster service, you can upgrade to Royal Mail Tracked 24 at checkout for an additional fee.
Can I collect my order?
Unfortunately right now we do not offer a collection service, however in the future we hope to expand and offer this service.
Do the names on the ID/proof of address and entitlement document need to match?
UK law allows number plates to be purchased as a gift, which means the names on the required documents do not need to match. You can use your own ID along with a registration entitlement document (such as a V5C or V750) that belongs to a family member or friend to complete your purchase with us.
Are 3D & 4D plates road legal?
Yes – our 3D and 4D number plates are 100% road legal. The DVLA confirms on its official website that “characters on a number plate can be 3D.” The term ‘4D’ is simply an industry label for raised characters made from laser-cut acrylic, and they still fall under the DVLA’s definition of 3D characters.
What About Shortened Plates?
Shortened number plates are also fully road legal, provided they meet legal spacing and margin requirements. More details on this can be found in our FAQs.

At Paramount Plates, we only produce plates that comply with BS AU 145e standards and DVLA regulations. We do not manufacture or sell show plates under any circumstances.
Will my 3D or 4D number plates pass an MOT?
Absolutely. If your 3D or 4D number plates are supplied by Paramount Plates, they are fully road legal and MOT compliant. All of our plates are manufactured to meet DVLA regulations and conform to the BS AU 145e standard — so there’s no need to worry about legality.
